Additional resting areas due to deer rutting

Many people look forward to it during the summer, the deer rut that takes place in late summer. The male red deer are in top condition and compete vocally and physically with each other for the favours of the does.

Snapshot Hoge Veluwe photos now analysed by smart computer system

Since 2013, Wageningen University has been using camera traps to study wildlife behaviour at De Hoge Veluwe National Park. Early on in the project, it became apparent that it would be impossible for the small team of researchers and volunteers involved to manually assess the enormous number of photos the cameras were taking – more than 1 million each year. It was then decided to call in the help of any and all nature lovers interested in lending a helping hand.

Otterlo entrance closed to car traffic today

Due to the installation of a new sliding gate, the Otterlo entrance will be closed to car traffic on Monday 17th of May.

Entrance Hoenderloo not accessible from Monday 4 to Wednesday 6 November

Due to road works, Entrance Hoenderloo will not be accessible for car traffic from Monday 4 to Wednesday 6 November. Cyclists and pedestrians can go through the grass to reach the entrance. Please note: Hoenderloo entrance can also be difficult to reach on other days until mid November, when the road works will be completed. 

Opening weekend Park Paviljoen

In the weekend of June 22 and 23 you are welcome to view the inside of the Park Paviljoen for the first time. Guided tours will take place continuously between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. On the square you can enjoy live music and a cozy market with local products.

Road works on the N804 Hoenderloo - Arnhem May 16 to 24

To extend the life of the asphalt, work is taking place on the road N804. This is the road that runs from the south to Hoenderloo.

Cycling Championships on June 26 in National Park Hoge Veluwe

The time trial of the Dutch Cycling Championships will come through the Park this year. This has consequences for accessibility on Wednesday 26 June. Various roads in and around the Park are (partly) closed this day.
